SURPRISE: The "Greens" Are Being Pushed Out of the PP-DB Coalition, Losing Their Influence in Government

The smallest party in the "Democratic Bulgaria" coalition might be left without any representatives in the next National Assembly, as "Filter" learned from activists of the "Green Movement." Currently, they have three members of parliament: Daniel Bozhinov, Vasil Todev, and Vladislav Panev.

As the "big" coalition PP-DB prepares its candidate lists for the upcoming snap elections, informal talks are taking place among the key leaders of the failed change: Kiril Petkov, Asen Vassilev, Hristo Ivanov, and the so-called general Atanas Atanasov. It's already been decided that they will participate in the same format in both the parliamentary and European elections, hoping to stay relevant in Bulgarian politics. However, the "Green Movement" will not have anyone in an electable position on the list for Brussels.

At the same time, the coalition's support is expected to drop to around 10% in the national vote, which would mean 15 to 18 fewer seats in parliament. The unofficial process of list-building is happening behind closed doors, leaving the "Greens" in the dark. Only Vladislav Panev has secured a spot on the Sofia list of the broker coalition.

Panev was once the main leader of the so-called "green extortionists," but he was replaced by post-collector Toma Belev and Daniela Bozhilova after significant internal drama. The new leaders of the "Green Movement" are positioning themselves as an internal opposition within PP-DB and have even distanced themselves from their colleagues on key parliamentary decisions. As a result, their candidates will likely be placed in unelectable positions on the lists, allowing more members from Kiril Petkov's and Hristo Ivanov's factions to enter parliament.

This exclusion has caused unrest within the "Green Movement," and discussions are expected soon about whether they should remain in the coalition if they are not allocated any positions.
